Khafre ("appearing like Re") was also the son of Khufu, and was named Suphis II by Manetho (who claims he reigned for sixty-six years), and Chephren by the Greeks. He may have reigned for about twenty-four years, and built the second pyramid at Giza. Khafre is credited with the building of the Sphinx, and it is suggested that the face of the Sphinx models its creator. He also left many beautifully crafted diorite statues of himself.
