The word Hudjefa (or Hudjef) means “missing”. It refers to the fact that the scribes composing the kings lists could not interpret the name of one of the pharaohs. If the destruction of the name was deliberate, then this may be seen as an indication of some dynastic troubles. However, it is also possible that there was no other pharaoh and that the scribes mistakenly included this reference because their records were accidentally damaged.
